Ruby Rose sent this to Lolita Borgia on Twitter last month, however she quickly deleted her tweet. Note that Miss Borgia is a cam model. Luckily she receives all notifications via her email and found this charming reply. I’m not sure about the rest of you but I’m quite disgusted at what I just read.
I don’t know what’s worse; the fact she deleted it or the fact she promotes tolerance and would respond to someone publicly in such a way.
To clarify, I don’t particularly care what the problem is between both parties. My issue and many other people’s issues with Ruby’s tweet is that whilst Ruby was ‘attacked’ (I don’t think she was but that’s how she sees it) and was reduced as a popculture identity and that few perceived her to be selling out on her sexuality which was person, her response reduced an entire industry and all of our peers as a disease.
As Estelle Lucas mentioned on Twitter, “Had L targeted your sexuality, every lesbian would jump in and feel offended. No difference here.”
My perception is that the statement Ruby made was on par with HIV & Homophobia stigma. The term “gayer than aids” is something that really angers me and I do hear regularly from some people that the think that the AIDS virus is only linked to homosexuality; which is a retarded assumption no matter what.
I don’t expect everyone to agree with me on this one, but I’m sorry; when you attack a persons job you are attacking their industry.
Ruby, shame on you.
